Last year, UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, effectively cancelled Christmas – to contain a highly contagious new variant of COVID-19. However, despite rising cases and pressure from the NHS Confederation and British Medical Association to re-introduce restrictions, he has promised a lockdown-free Christmas in 2021. Largely thanks to the successful vaccine rollout in the UK, we won’t be apart from our loved ones this year. We can gather with more friends and family – both indoors and outdoors – with no restrictions on travel, at least within the UK. We can spend some quality time together with extended family – at home, at the pub and the Boxing Day football matches. It’s time to deck the halls. Christmas will feel like Christmas once again.
